Thomas Joseph, MD, President
Dr. Thomas Joseph, is an orthopaedic surgeon and currently serves as President of The Orthopaedic Surgery Center. Dr. Joseph graduated Cum Laude from John Carroll University and received his Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University. He completed his residency at the Cleveland Clinic and a sports medicine fellowship from world‐renown Steadman‐Hawkins Clinic. Dr. Joseph is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Joseph is active in the community practicing medicine as an orthopaedic specialist at Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates, where he currently serves as President. He has been at the forefront of clinical innovation, providing the highest quality orthopaedic care to the patients of Northeast Ohio.
Leslie Schwendeman, MD, Medical Director
Dr. Leslie Schwendeman is an orthopaedic surgeon and currently serves as the Medical Director of The Orthopaedic Surgery Center. Dr. Schwendeman graduated Summa Cum Laude from Muskingum College and received his Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University. He completed his residency at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a hand & upper extremity fellowship from Hand Surgical Associates in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Schwendeman is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Schwendeman is active in the community practicing medicine as an orthopaedic hand specialist at Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates. He has more than 20 years of experience working specifically with the hand and upper extremity injury population.
Taylor Cera, MBA, COO
Mr. Taylor Cera is the COO at The Orthopaedic Surgery Center. Mr. Cera has over 10 years of healthcare leadership experience and is responsible for the direction, planning, implementing, and leading of all operational and financial activities at the Center. Mr. Cera’s knowledge is in strategic planning and business development. Mr. Cera and his team have developed and implemented many key growth initiatives such as pricing tools, direct surgical service contracting, and an outpatient joint replacement center service line. Mr. Cera has served in operational roles at St. John Medical Center‐University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh UPMC, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Cera is active in the community serving as a Member and past Vice President of The Pennsylvania State University Shenango Campus Advisory Board. In 2016, he received The Mahoning Valley Young Professional Top 25 Under 35 Award. Becker’s Healthcare named him among 23 ASC Leaders under 40 that have made a significant impact as part of the ASC industry. Mr. Cera received his bachelor degree from The Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in business administration concentrating in accounting from Cleveland State University. He was a member of the Penn State men’s hockey team.
