Hunter C. Spitz, MD

About Me

Dr. Spitz is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult hip and knee reconstruction, including primary and revision joint replacement. He is trained extensively in direct anterior approach total hip replacement.

A graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in microbiology, Dr. Spitz earned his Doctor of Medicine from Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine. He went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, serving as Chief Resident and gaining extensive experience in joint replacement and complex orthopaedic care. He joined YOA in September 2025 after completing an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at Southern Illinois.

Dr. Spitz has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and regional conferences on topics ranging from knee arthroplasty techniques to occupational hazards in orthopaedic surgery.

Dr. Spitz is Board eligible with the ABOS and [is a member of the Ohio Orthopedic Society.]

Passionate about providing personalized care, Dr. Spitz values building relationships with his patients and helping them return to active, fulfilling lives. Dr. Spitz was born and raised in the Mahoning Valley, and is excited to return home to care for patients in his community. Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Spitz enjoys spending time with family and friends, skiing and snowboarding, traveling (especially to visit family in Australia), cooking, golf, live music, and following Ohio State football and Cleveland sports.
